Location Requests, Explained

Every guide here starts from the same limit: a phone number does not carry a location. A request asks the person holding the phone to share one, and the answer arrives only if they agree.

The three guides cover both sides of that exchange: what the sender and the recipient see, how the link opens without an app, and what a request can and cannot do when a phone has been lost.

What comes back is a snapshot of one moment, not a live feed. A second answer needs a second request, and the other person decides again.

What this topic covers

  • What the other person sees when the request lands on their phone.
  • What the link carries, and why it is not the location itself.
  • What comes back after the tap, including the accuracy range.
  • What to do when the person declines or never opens the link.
